Although the date has yet to be confirmed officially, we’re so excited to be able to say that the Nottingham Goose Fair is expected to return this October!
Is Goose Fair Happening in 2021?
All being well, absolutely! Goose Fair 2021 is scheduled to happen 6th-10th October 2021. I think everyone is a little nervous to say any event is 100% happening due to the many changes we have seen in levels of restrictions and rules since the start of 2020. However, we are hopefully on a track out of any restrictions and as such, so far, the event is going ahead.
The fair itself is a massive deal and has always been seen as a massive boost to the economy of the city. As such, the cancellation of last year’s events is something that the local council would most certainly want to have avoided. They are currently getting everything in place to give the 2021 event the best possible chance of going ahead.
With over 500 attractions, numerous food stalls, plenty of fun and games and of course, the chance to own various glow sticks the event is something that so many Nottingham families will be looking forward to. After a tough year many of us are really looking forward to being able to get out and about with our friends and family again. This yearly event is on the social calendar for many people and as such, they’ll be looking forward to being able to attend once again.
Why Was The Goose Fair 2020 Cancelled?
There probably isn’t anyone that was unaffected by the events of 2020, which sure the UK under a ‘Stay at Home’ order, people encouraged to stay at home and numerous big events cancelled. Unfortunately, in a bid to slow down the spread of Covid-19, the Nottingham Goose Fair was one of the events that couldn’t go ahead. It’s only been cancelled completely twice before then in its very many hundreds of years in existence – once because of World War I and once because of the bubonic plague.
However, as you’ll no doubt be aware we are currently on a Roadmap out of any restrictions and everyone is hopeful that we’ll soon be able to return to a big more normality. As such, events like the Nottingham Goose Fair are once again being pencilled in, with a strong possibility that they’ll be able to go ahead!
Attending The 2021 Goose Fair
All being well, the event which is hosted at the Forest Recreation Ground will take place around the 6th to 10th October. It is expected that Nottingham City Council will make an announcement on the event this summer, which gives people plenty of time to plan their trip to Europe’s largest travelling fair when it comes to the city this autumn.
We’re really looking forward to attending and already have our eye on a few games of Hook a Duck and a bag of candyfloss bigger than our head – we’ll see you there!
